If you are puzzled by numerous wordpress themes and not able to decide which one to choose, following tips can defineitely help you.
- Acknowledge that there are rare chance that you get a theme which is perfect for you in every manner. But I don’t tell you to compromise on any ground.
- If your blog readership is already very high, take professional help, you can hire a designer which can produce a theme which exactly meet your demand. With your feedback it can be further customised.
- If it is one man show, I would suggest you to choose a theme which meet your most of the requirement i.e. you are comforatable with its look & feel, structure.
- Understand that any theme is 100% customisable, limit is your imagination only. If any theme meets your most of requirement, you can always make changes to it later.
- Don’t try themes on your actual blog. I don’t recommend disturbing actual blog. you should try any new theme on other dummy blog, but wait you can see how your blog will look with your new theme. For that go to Theme page and instead of left-clicking on the name of the theme to select, right click on the name of the theme and select “Open in New Window” or “Open in new tab”, by doing this you can see your blog with new theme without actually activating that theme.
Resources you can get almost all sort of themes from this WordPress Theme Page. - Preferebly it is good if theme you select isfree or with GNU or creative common license. If this is not so, then check its terms, if this allow customisation or alteration in its code.
- Should support widget and at least one side bar.
- It should be light-weight and easy to load.
- It shuld have its own customisation page, so that you need not meddle with its code
- It must support page template
- Its look and feel should be of yours and others liking, so that customisation become lesser
- It should support custome search engine
- It should support google analytic
I have tested many theme on these standards and observed theme iNove to fulfill the most (except Google Analytic), Me too is in search of theme with better look and more customization. If you think that if any other theme is better then this iNove theme.
